Awards

Over the years, McWane’s pursuit of perfection has led to consistent and positive recognition. Whether this acknowledgement comes in the form of a major award or a simple letter of thanks, we’re proud to display it below.

  • Fresh Water Land Trust Corporate Partner for Conservation Award

The Freshwater Land Trust’s Corporate Partners for Conservation program is a leadership opportunity for the Birmingham business community to recognize the value of land conservation. Each year, FWLT honors those corporations who have made contributions to preserving the places that matter throughout the previous year. The Freshwater Land Trust looks forward to coordinating this event each year, as it offers the opportunity to convey our gratitude to our partners and reflect on our mission, while also allowing our key supporters the opportunity to talk about their involvement with the Freshwater land Trust and how land conservation matters to their business.

This year’s event was generously hosted by Bill Horton, Senior Executive Vice President and South Region President of Regions Bank, and featured keynote speaker Bruce Akin, CEO of B.A.S.S. Bruce spoke on the  importance of conservation to B.A.S.S. and its business bottom line, emphasizing the business’s partnership with FWLT and its mission to provide access to recreational activities such as fishing and hunting. Regions graciously offered its corporate dining space where FWLT’s guests enjoyed a catered breakfast and sunrise over Birmingham’s cityscape.

  • 2015 Workshops, Inc. Names McWane Philanthropic Partner of the Year

McWane, Inc. has been a strong supporter of Workshops, Inc. (WI) for many years and is proud to be named their Philanthropic Partner of the Year.  WI recruits people with various disabilities, provides them with on-the-job training and then helps them find a job. They partner with local businesses for services such as assembly, packaging, mailing and order fulfillment, which is all done at their facility located in the Avondale neighborhood of Birmingham.

Running an operation like this can be a challenge because they rely almost completely on the generosity of the community to support the program.  This year, WI came up with a new concept, Comedy for a Cause, and McWane was happy to be a title sponsor for the event which drew nearly 300 people and raised $28,000.  It featured a nationally-known comedian with disabilities who put on a hilarious show while also challenging the stereotype of what people with disabilities can achieve.

The proceeds from this event will enable them to hire an additional Employment Specialist on the WI staff whose primary responsibility will be placing people with disabilities into community-based employment.

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration - VPP

Fewer than 1% of all US workplaces have earned admission into OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), that recognizes exemplary health and safety programs. No other company in the waterworks foundry industry has a single plant in the VPP program.  McWane has severn.  Read more about McWane VPP Program.
