Health & Safety
McWane's Health and Safety program, which goes beyond OSHA requirements, is based on the principles of OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program of management commitment, employee involvement, hazard recognition, and safety and health training. Our employees strive daily to take personal safety responsibility not only for themselves but for their co-workers. At McWane, we do it safely, or not at all!
-- Barbara Wisniewski, Vice President Health & Safety
Do It Safely Or Not At All
McWane, Inc. is committed to achieving the highest standards for health and safety in each of its facilities through the use of innovative programs that meet and exceed regulations. To address these critical issues, McWane has implemented a comprehensive Environmental and Safety Management System based on ISO 14000 (a series of environmental management standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization), the proposed ISO 18000 standard, and OSHA’s Safety Management Guidelines that substantially exceeds OSHA requirements. The company and its subsidiaries manufacture iron pipe, valves, hydrants, fittings, fire safety equipment and other products for the plumbing and water works industries, operating thirteen foundries as well as numerous other manufacturing facilities across the U.S., Canada and Australia. The demanding environment of a foundry presents unique safety and environmental challenges, and McWane is committed to providing its employees a safe, environmentally-compliant workplace. As part of our commitment, McWane vigorously promotes a safe work environment including increased safety personnel staffing, outside safety audits, safety incentive programs, OSHA-approved training and regular coordination with federal, state, and local safety agencies. McWane also has increased its investment in safety and environmental projects, spending significantly more than industry averages, and installing state-of-the-art technology at our facilities. McWane’s continued role as one of the world’s most important suppliers of pipe, valves, and hydrants is based on the fulfillment of our responsibilities to our employees, our communities and our customers. We have continued to improve employee worker safety, to keep clean the communities we work in, and to produce first-rate products for the cities and towns that use them. |
