McWane Scholarship Program Gives Back Aug 25, 2009
In keeping with McWane principles of excellence, the company implemented the McWane Scholarship Program in 2005 to assist the children of the McWane Team in obtaining an undergraduate college education. Each year, ten scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are awarded annually to the children of our Team Members, all renewable for up to four years. The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham provides a selection committee comprised of community leaders to manage the selection process and administrative duties after the recipients are selected. Scholarship recipients are selected according to academic performance, community activities, personal character, and a written essay. It is truly an honor to assist our Team Members' children in their journey to obtain a college education. One of several charitable programs created by McWane, this scholarship program lets us give even more back to the community while taking care of our own. We recently received a letter of appreciation from scholarship recipient, Kevin Brown. Kevin is the son of Pacific States Team Member Charlie Brown. We appreciate Kevin's letter, but more importantly, we appreciate his commitment to completing his college education. Looks like he's well on his way.
