Amerex Helps United Way of Central AL
Sep 22, 2009

In cooperation with the Birmingham Barons baseball team, Amerex Corporation was proud to sponsor Fan Appreciation Night at the last game of the 2009 regular season at the Hoover Met. Before the game, Amerex Team Members Chris Thomas and Rodney Gibbs presented the 2009 Fireman of the Game contribution in the amount of $3,900 to the United Way of Central Alabama.

For the past three years, Amerex has sponsored a program called Fireman of the Game.  For each save made during the season, Amerex makes a contribution to the United Way of Central Alabama and each time a Barons pitcher records a save, he is named the Fireman of the Game.

McWane has enjoyed a long history of contributing to the United Way.  The United Way helps thousands in the community who have lost a job or had a medical crisis.  With the downturn in the economy the United Way reported that they have had a large increase in calls for help and Amerex was glad to help them answer those calls.
