McWane Joins In Haitian Relief Effort
Jan 22, 2010

McWane, Inc. is helping facilitate the delivery of more than one million dollars of surgical supplies and much needed medicine to a hospital in Jumani, Dominican Republic.  The hospital lies just across the border from Haiti and is receiving injured from U.S. military helicopter airlifts.  It is staffed with thirty doctors along with many other aid workers, and the supplies will help in their efforts to save the lives of thousands of Haitians who have been injured as a result of the recent earthquakes.  "We hope that this effort will provide the medical teams with the resources that they need to help the sick and injured," said McWane Chairman Phillip McWane.  "All of us will continue to pray for those who are suffering as a result of this horrible tragedy."

This effort is in coordination with CitiHope International, a non-profit aid organization that specializes in delivering tangible help to disaster victims in the form of medical supplies, medicine, equipment and food.  CitiHope gathered the supplies through donations from manufacturers and other suppliers, and McWane funded a significant portion of the cost of airlifting them to the hospital.  For more information about CitiHope and their relief efforts, go to www.citihope.org.
