Tyler Helps Build New Freedom Tower
Mar 15, 2010

There are events that happen in our lives that we will never forget.  In fact, we remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when they occurred.  Like that fateful date on November 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in a Presidential motorcade in Dallas or January 28, 1986, when the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated over the Atlantic Ocean.  Another such event was September 11, 2001, when hijackers intentionally crashed two airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing thousands.

It has taken years to recover from the events of 9-11, but after extensive planning, the rebuilding process has begun on 1 World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower.  The Tyler Pipe Team was excited to receive an order for 250,000 plus pounds of pipe that will be installed on floors 9-11 of the Tower.  As this order was like no other order that Tyler had ever received, Thad Hicks, East Regional Sales Manager for Tyler, wanted to do something special.  To commemorate the events of 9/11, Thad suggested stenciling each cast-iron pipe with a tribute: "We will never forget 9-11-01".

The Tyler Team is proud to have an opportunity to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11. "Compared with the enormous structure, the stenciling is small, but speaks volumes for a lot of people, not just in New York, but everywhere, Hicks said.
