Amerex Puts Out Fires in Afghanistan
Mar 30, 2010

The war in Afghanistan has been raging since 2001 and Amerex has emerged as a major military subcontractor supplying fire supression equipment to Oshkosh Corporation for installation on all of the new all-terrain vehicles called M-ATVs.  These all-terrain vehicles carry four soilders plus a gunner and operate on rough ground and shield occupants from mines and bombs.

The equipment manufactured by Amerex uses optical sensors and other technology to detect fires and explosions immediately and put the fire out by using a series of jets and hoses to distribute a fire suppression substance.  According to Bill Beyer, General Manager at Amerex, "Our system puts out engine compartment fires within 30 seconds and crew cab fires in 250 milliseconds.  That is the blink of an eye - one quarter of a second."

The Team at Amerex is very proud that they were chosen by Oshkosh to help protect our troops who are in harms way in Afghanistan.
