Doug Stracke, Clow Valve Environmental Manager

Clow Valve was recently recognized by Richard Leopold, Director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for "exemplary service and leadership in protecting and enhancing Iowa's natural resources".  This recognition comes as the result of the following improvements which were made at the foundry:

·         The reduction of spent brass molding sand per ton of brass metal poured;

·         The reduction of non-contact cooling water used at the metal casting facility;

·         Improved product coating technology which resulted in a reduction of VOC emissions;

·         Improved paper, cardboard and plastic wrap recycling efforts;

·         Energy conservation including heat recovery from air compressor; and

·         Clow Valve's participation in Mid-American Energy's  Efficiency Partners   program.
