Amerex Corporation and Will Yarbrough, the Director of Safety at Amerex, were featured in a Customer Success Story sponsored by PureSafety in the June 2008 issue of Professional Safety. Amerex contracted with PureSafety to supplement existing training programs and add an online component to meet a number of challenges. Amerex wanted (1) a better system for delivery and management of training, ultimately providing more flexibility for both employees and supervisors; (2) Better quality content that could be customized and would be updated on a regular basis; and (3) Demonstrated knowledge transfer amongst Amerex employees. Amerex launched PureSafety in November 2006 with a focus on 24 key safety topics in both English and Spanish.
Since that time, Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) have reduced by 37% over 2006; Days Away Restricted or Transferred Rates (DART) have reduced by 60% over 2006; Days Away from Work (DAFW) due to lost time accident have been reduced by 100% over 2006; and worker's compensation costs are down. It has also enabled Amerex to deliver the highest quality EHS training to more people in less time - all while maintaining demanding production schedules.
This has resulted in a drastically improved safety culture and significant bottom-line business benefits for Amerex.
