Pacific States Pursues VPP Award
Nov 5, 2008

In an effort to become a VPP site, Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company just completed a week-long evaluation with OSHA.  We are very pleased to announce that UOSHA has recommended that Pacific States be awarded the honor of VPP Merit Site, pending the completion of certain achievable 90-day items.

If Pacific States maintains their current injury rates, they should be eligible to become a Star Site in a year.  Less than 1% of eligible work places in the U.S. have been awarded VPP status.

Pacific States would join four other McWane facilities who have achieved VPP status Tyler Coupling (Merit Site), Manchester Tank Elkhart (Star Site), Clow Valve Foundry (Merit Site), and Manchester Tank Petersburg (Star Site).  VPP designations are reserved for facilities with exemplary worksites that have comprehensive, successful safety and health-management systems.  Companies in the Star Program have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industry.
