MCIP Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day
Nov 14, 2008

In the current downturn in the economy, we all have to look hard for something to feel good about these days.  McWane Pipe, like so many other companies has been forced to cut back on production hours due to sluggish sales and high inventory levels.  These factors presented McWane the opportunity to offer a one day furlough to employees (approximately 300) so they could reach out to the residents in the Norwood community in an initiative called Neighbors Helping Neighbors.  With the help of the Norwood Resource Center, approximately 50 residents in Norwood submitted requests for assistance.  Fourteen projects that could be completed in one day's time were identified.  The employees met at McWane Pipe at 7:00 a.m. and separated into 14 different teams for the various projects.  Two large projects were Norwood Elementary School and Norwood Community Center.  It was an incredible day which helped to create a close bond between the McWane Pipe employees and the Norwood residents.

McWane Pipe has demonstrated its support to the Norwood community in the past by sponsoring tree plantings and health fairs and are Partners in Eduction with Norwood Elementary School, Kirby Middle School and Carver High School.  McWane Pipe is grateful to the Norwood residents for allowing them the opporutnity to come into their homes and lend a hand.  It was truly an honor.
