Bibby Ste-Croix OHSAS Certified
Mar 26, 2009

For facilities outside the U.S. where OSHA's VPP program is not applicable, there is a somewhat similar process to demonstrate outstanding Health and Safety achievements through an internationally recognized standard, OHSAS 18001.

The OHSAS process is intended to help an organization control occupational health and safety risks and was developed in response to widespread demand for a recognized standard against which to be certified and assessed.   Some of the key elements of OHSAS are establishment of a management system, planning for hazard identification and risk control, training awareness and competence, document and data control, and emergency preparedness and response.

F
ollowing two separate week-long evaluations which included demonstrations of management commitment and employee involvement, and sustainability of programs associated with regulatory compliance, the independent auditing team of Intertak Semko Certification AB advised Bibby Ste-Croix they were certified as conforming to the requirements of OHSAS 18001:2007.

Bibby Ste-Croix joins the five other McWane facilities who have attained this level of achievement and have been certified as VPP sites.
