Clow Valve is a VPP Star Site Apr 21, 2009
We are proud to announce that Clow Valve-Metal Casting Facility achieved OSHA VPP Star status after a long, intensive week of auditing from representatives of Iowa OSHA. In 2007, the Department of Occupational Health and Safety Association (OSHA) in Iowa recognized the Clow Valve Metal Casting Facility as a Merit Site in its prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). A VPP Merit Site meets or exceeds all the safety and health requirements for the program, which are far and beyond the minimum OSHA standards. To achieve Star status, not only do all of the safety and health programs need to be exemplary and their management commitment and employee involvement outstanding, but the 3-year injury rates also need to be below industry average. Through Clow's excellent programs and hard work, the Metal Casting Facility was able to substantially reduce their injury rates since receiving the VPP Merit designation, in addition to maintaining their high standard for program excellence. Barb Wisniewski, Vice President of Health & Safety for McWane stated, "Everyone at Clow Valve worked so diligently for years to make this happen. This is an effort that we are truly proud of and a testament to the type of safety exceptions and culture we have within McWane today! Great job!" McWane now has three VPP Star Sites (Manchester Tank-Elkhart, Manchester Tank-Petersburg and Clow Valve-Metal Casting Facility), two VPP Merit Sites (Tyler Coupling and Pacific States) and one OHSAS Certified facility (Bibby Ste-Croix). This puts us well on the way to our goal of all our facilities achieving VPP certification.
