Amerex Helps United Way
Jun 15, 2009

In cooperation with the Birmingham Barons baseball team, Amerex Corporation was proud to sponsor a program called Fireman of the Game.  Each time a Barons pitcher recorded a save, he was named the Fireman of the Game.  For each save made during the 2008 season, Amerex made a contribution to the United Way of Central Alabama.  Due largely to the success of Barons closer Jon Link, who racked up a total of 35 saves in 2008.  In a ceremony at the Hoover Met, Amerex employees Ricky Bonds, Brandy Estrada, Chris Thomas and Rodney Gibbs presented a check for $4,000 to the United Way.

McWane has enjoyed a long history of contributing to the United Way.  The United Way helps thousands in the community who have lost a job or had a medical crisis.  With the downturn in the economy the United Way reported that they have had a 14% increase in calls for help and Amerex as glad to help them answer those calls.
