McWane team member Stephen Brooking who works at the Manchester Tank & Equipment Company Beford facility was deployed by the Army for one year in December 2007. Stephen served in Iraq for nine months. He was stationed at Joint Base Balad for seven months and one month each at Camp Liberty, Baghdad, and Talil.  During the other three months, he trained in the event of redeployment. While in Iraq, he served as a senior mechanic, wrecker operator, and a combat lifesaver.  Stephen drove a HEMMIT 10-ton wrecker in a total of 28 missions, recovering 10 vehicles.  While in Iraq he earned an Army Commendation medal and a Combat Action Badge.

Stephen sent Ken MaGaha, the Manager of MTE Bedford, an American flag that he had taken on one of his missions while in Iraq. Stephen stated, "This flag was sent to Ken out of the respect I have for him and for his support of myself and other fellow soldiers."  Stephen also nominated Ken for the Patriotic Employer Award.

We are grateful to Stephen for his service to our great country and to his partnership with Ken. Both men demonstrate what teamwork is truly all about.
