Advocating for suicide prevention efforts in Chemung County

Kennedy Valve continued its long-term tenure as one of the largest participating groups walking in the 20th Annual “Walk A Mile in My Shoes” suicide prevention event. Hosted by the Chemung County Department of Mental Health, the walk raises funds to benefit suicide prevention efforts and resources in Chemung County.

Despite the rain at Eldridge Park, 119 Kennedy Valve team members joined the estimated 1,500 participants to walk the mile in Eldridge Park to remember or support a loved one.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, mental health crises account for 60 million visits to primary care and 6 million ER visits annually. If you are experiencing mental health-related distress or are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support, contact the National Suicide Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK or call (911).
