McWane hosts state and federal officials to highlight Alabama manufacturing

For more than a century, Alabama has played a central role in America’s iron industry, helping provide the essential infrastructure that keeps water flowing across the country. As one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of ductile iron pipe and fittings, McWane is proud to contribute to that legacy while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 Administrator Kevin McOmber and Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Director Edward Poolos toured Tyler Union as part of a broader look at Alabama’s water infrastructure industry.
The visits highlighted how recycled scrap metal becomes essential infrastructure and showcased the skilled employees, modern manufacturing processes and environmental investments behind the work.
