Vice President of Health & Safety
Barbara Wisniewski joined McWane in July 2003 and is responsible for providing corporate oversight, leadership and technical assistance on health and safety matters to all McWane facilities. Before joining McWane, Ms. Wisniewski served as Corporate Safety & Health Manager for Miller Brewing Company where she received the Miller Achievement Award for excellence in achieving safety and health improvements using a "passion to win" and "focus on customers." She began her career at Ladish Co., as a metallurgical chemist and industrial hygienist.
She is a graduate in biology and chemistry from Alverno College in Milwaukee. Ms. Wisniewski is an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) by serving on the national Technical Publications Review Committee as well as the Awards and Honors Chair and Executive Secretary for the Human Resources branch of the Management Practice Specialty for the American Society of Safety Engineers. In 2011, Ms. Wisniewski was one of only 100 women to be named by ASSE to the elite group of 100 Women, Making a Difference in Safety in the last 100 years. She was honored as the Most Significant Contributor to the Human Resources Branch of the Management Practice Specialty.
Ms. Wisniewski was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of NIOSH’s Deep South Educational Resource Center in 2015. NIOSH is the research arm for the Center for Disease Control and has eighteen university-based Education and Research Centers throughout the United States.
She was on the 2011 ISHN "Power 101" List. She is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and has served on the board of delegates as well as the board of directors of the National Safety Council. She is an alumna of Leader Birmingham (class of 2008). During her career, she has been a featured speaker at multiple state and federal safety conferences on various topics.
Additionally, Ms. Wisniewski is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), and a Special Government Employee (SGE) serving OSHA with their Voluntary Protection Program.
