Our first order of business every day is to improve safety performance toward a goal of zero injuries. Every human life is valuable, and we are committed to protecting the life and health of every team member. By stepping up and making people first, we protect our team members, customers, partners, neighbors and communities. That is why we strive to go beyond complying with safety standards.

Safety is an integrated principle at each of our operations. In order to have sustainable solutions for generations, we must produce our products and services in a responsible manner. That means fostering a culture where we put people first.

“The Safety First movement is based on the assumption that every man is his brother’s keeper.”

Ergo Cup

Ergonomics is the science of fitting workplace conditions and job demands to the capabilities of the working population. This emphasizes the implementation of industry and task-specific guidelines for reducing and preventing workplace musculoskeletal disorders and other injuries.

Each year, McWane holds an internal Ergo Cup Competition. Teams from McWane facilities around the country present ergonomic-related projects they have implemented within the last 24 months to a panel of health and safety experts. Each project is aimed at reducing injuries, while improving workplace efficiency and transforming processes to best fit the needs of our team members. The successes from these projects are then implemented at other McWane facilities with similar operations to further reduce injury risks companywide. The winners of the competition then go on apply to compete at the National Ergo Cup Completion.

Find all current and past winners of the Ergo Cup Competition under the "Ergo Cup" tab of our Awards and Partnerships page.
