In recognition of International Firefighters Day, team members from McWane Corporate delivered lunch to Vestavia Hills Fire Department, Station 1, part of the Greater Birmingham area. International Firefighters Day honors the courage, dedication and sacrifice of firefighters worldwide and is celebrated annually on May 4, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, chimney sweeps and brewers.
The Vestavia Hills firefighters enjoyed learning more about McWane’s numerous hydrant divisions and appreciated the Amerex fire extinguisher to supplement safety at the station. In addition to some McWane swag, the firefighters were treated to delicious barbecue from Burning Tree Smokehouse. McWane team members greatly enjoyed the reciprocal hospitality with a tour of the station by Captain Chad Crowe.
“During the tour, we were able to see the work that these first responders perform and connect them to many of the products our divisions produce. From search and rescue to emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation and fighting fires, our divisions produce many of the essential items that enable these firefighters to perform their jobs,” stated McWane Corporate Director, Insurance & Risk Management Sherry Pigford.
